Research

The Tuljapurkar Group conducts scientific research that is published in journals and presented at meetings around the world.

• Stochastic dynamics of populations and genes
• International mortality forecasts
• Stochastic demographic forecasts of populations
• Modeling the dynamics of public retirement systems
• Policy alternatives for Social Security and pensions
• Risk-based policy advising
• Incorporating realistic demography in macroeconomic models of saving and production
• Investigating sources of international longevity increases
• Exploring the relationships between economic growth and increasing lifespans and healthiness

S⁴ - Stochastic Social Security Simulator is an online simulation of the Social Security Trust Fund developed by the Tuljapurkar group in collaboration with Ronald Lee at the University of California, Berkeley.
