Ecological Dynamics: Theory and Applications

Ecological theory aims to integrate biology and mathematics, data, and hypotheses into a quantitative  description of nature.

This course discusses key ideas and methods in ecological theory (not statistics). The course is built around papers, old and new, and their supplementary material (which is where the details often are). I will assume you know matrices/vectors, some calculus, some basic probability theory.

There will be

o   assigned papers (list distributed at sign up),

o   short talks by me (to explain things in the papers, as long as 20 mins),

o   questions asked about the papers and other things,

o   short talks by you (about the papers or to answer questions or ...), homework (one every 2 weeks) that I hope you will do.
